Slack and YouTube integration

Save yourself the work of writing custom integrations for Slack and YouTube and use n8n instead. Build adaptable and scalable Communication, HITL, and Marketing workflows that work with your technology stack. All within a building experience you will love.

How to connect Slack and YouTube

  • Step 1: Create a new workflow
  • Step 2: Add and configure nodes
  • Step 3: Connect
  • Step 4: Customize and extend your integration
  • Step 5: Test and activate your workflow

Step 1: Create a new workflow and add the first step

In n8n, click the "Add workflow" button in the Workflows tab to create a new workflow. Add the starting point – a trigger on when your workflow should run: an app event, a schedule, a webhook call, another workflow, an AI chat, or a manual trigger. Sometimes, the HTTP Request node might already serve as your starting point.

Slack and YouTube integration: Create a new workflow and add the first step

Step 2: Add and configure Slack and YouTube nodes

You can find Slack and YouTube in the nodes panel. Drag them onto your workflow canvas, selecting their actions. Click each node, choose a credential, and authenticate to grant n8n access. Configure Slack and YouTube nodes one by one: input data on the left, parameters in the middle, and output data on the right.

Step 3: Connect Slack and YouTube

A connection establishes a link between Slack and YouTube (or vice versa) to route data through the workflow. Data flows from the output of one node to the input of another. You can have single or multiple connections for each node.

Slack and YouTube integration: Connect Slack and YouTube

Step 4: Customize and extend your Slack and YouTube integration

Use n8n's core nodes such as If, Split Out, Merge, and others to transform and manipulate data. Write custom JavaScript or Python in the Code node and run it as a step in your workflow. Connect Slack and YouTube with any of n8n’s 1000+ integrations, and incorporate advanced AI logic into your workflows.

Step 5: Test and activate your Slack and YouTube workflow

Save and run the workflow to see if everything works as expected. Based on your configuration, data should flow from Slack to YouTube or vice versa. Easily debug your workflow: you can check past executions to isolate and fix the mistake. Once you've tested everything, make sure to save your workflow and activate it.

Automatically promote your YouTube video on X

YouTube to X Post

Overview

This n8n workflow automates the process of promoting your latest YouTube videos on X (formerly Twitter). It ensures that posts are engaging, concise, and follow platform-specific requirements. Additionally, the workflow logs social posts into a Google Sheet for record-keeping.

Features

Fetch Latest YouTube Videos:** Pulls recently uploaded videos from a specified channel.
Generate Engaging X Posts:** Uses OpenAI's GPT-4 to create tailored, witty posts about your videos.
Character Limit Validation:** Ensures posts comply with X's character limit by rewriting if necessary.
Post Scheduling:** Automates post publishing to X.
Google Sheets Integration:** Logs posts and their status for tracking and management.
Optional Notifications:** Sends updates via Discord, Slack, or Gmail (disabled by default).

How It Works

Trigger:
Manually trigger the workflow or set a scheduled check for new videos (disabled by default).

Fetch YouTube Videos:
Retrieves the latest videos from your YouTube channel, filtering duplicates.

Content Creation:
OpenAI generates a witty and humanized post under 220 characters, using video title and description.
If the post exceeds the character limit, it is rewritten automatically.

Google Sheets Logging:
Logs the generated post to a Google Sheet with details like time, date, and post status.

Post to X:
Publishes the generated post on X. Updates the Google Sheet with the post URL.

Optional Notifications:
Sends notifications about the published post via Discord, Slack, or Gmail.

Customization

Schedule:**
Enable and modify the Check Every 2 Hours node to automatically check for new videos.

Post Format:**
Edit the OpenAI prompt in the Generate X Post node to tweak the tone or style of the generated posts.

Additional Platforms:**
Expand this workflow to post on other social platforms by adding respective nodes (e.g., Facebook, LinkedIn).

Notes

Posts are validated for character limits but are restricted to 220 characters to ensure compliance with X's guidelines and leave space for links.
Posts are logged in the Google Sheet with details, including post status and timestamps.
Current integrations are focused on promoting YouTube content; additional types can be supported with minor adjustments.

Digest new YouTube videos to Slack with Google Sheets, RapidAPI & GPT-4o-mini

Who is this for? Marketing, content, and enablement teams that need a quick, human-readable summary of every new video published by the YouTube channels they care about—without leaving Slack. What problem does this workflow solve? Manually checking multiple channels, skimming long videos, and pasting the highlights into Slack wastes time. This template automates the whole loop: detect a fresh upload from your selected channels → pull subtitles → distill the key take-aways with GPT-4o-mini → drop a neatly-formatted digest in Slack. What this workflow does Schedule Trigger fires every 10 min, then grabs a list of YouTube RSS feeds from a Google Sheet. HTTP + XML fetch & parse each feed; only brand-new videos continue. YouTube API fetches title/description, RapidAPI grabs English subtitles. Code nodes build an AI payload; OpenAI returns a JSON summary + article. A formatter turns that JSON into Slack Block Kit, and Slack posts it. Processed links are appended back to the “Video Links” sheet to prevent dupes. Setup Make a copy of this Google Sheet and connect a Google Sheets OAuth2 credential with edit rights. Slack App: create → add chat:write, channels:read, app_mention; enable Event Subscriptions; install and store the Bot OAuth token in an n8n Slack credential. RapidAPI key for https://yt-api.p.rapidapi.com/subtitles (300 free calls/mo) → save as HTTP Header Auth. OpenAI key → save in an OpenAI credential. Add your RSS feed URLs to the “RSS Feed URLs” tab; press Execute Workflow. How to customise Adjust the schedule interval or freshness window in “If newly published”. Swap the OpenAI model or prompt for shorter/longer digests. Point the Slack node at a different channel or DM. Extend the AI payload to include thumbnails or engagement stats. Use-case ideas Product marketing**: Instantly brief sales & CS teams when a competitor uploads a feature demo. Internal learning hub**: Auto-summarise conference talks and share bullet-point notes with engineers. Social media managers**: Get ready-to-post captions and key moments for re-purposing across platforms.

Automate YouTube Video SEO Tagging with GPT and Slack Notifications

AI-Powered YouTube Auto-Tagging Workflow (SEO Automation) Watch the demo video below: > Supercharge your YouTube SEO with this AI-powered workflow that automatically generates and applies smart, SEO friendly tags to your new videos every week. No more manual tagging, just better discoverability, improved reach, and consistent optimization. Plus, get instant Slack notifications so your team stays updated on every video’s SEO boost. Who’s it for YouTube creators, channel admins, and marketing teams who publish regularly and want consistent, SEO-friendly tags without manual effort. Agencies managing multiple channels who need an auditable, automated tagging process with Slack notifications. How it works / What it does Weekly Schedule Trigger Runs the workflow once per week. Get all videos uploaded last week Queries YouTube for videos uploaded by the channel in the past 7 days. Get video detail Retrieves each video’s title, description, and ID. YouTube Video Auto Tagging Agent (LLM) Inputs: video.title, video.description, channelName. Uses a SEO-specialist system prompt to generate 15–20 relevant, comma-separated tags. Update video with AI-generated tags Writes the tags back to the video via YouTube Data API. Inform via Slack message Posts a confirmation message (video title + ID + tags) to a chosen Slack channel for visibility. How to set up YouTube connection Create a Google Cloud project and enable YouTube Data API v3. Configure OAuth client (Web app / Desktop as required). Authorize with the Google account that manages the channel. In your automation platform, add the YouTube credential and grant scopes (see Requirements). Slack connection Create or use an existing Slack app/bot. Install to your workspace and capture the Bot Token. Add the Slack credential in your automation platform. LLM / Chat Model Select your model (e.g., OpenAI GPT). Paste the System Prompt (SEO expert) and the User Prompt template: Inputs: {{video_title}}, {{video_description}}, {{channel_name}}. Output: comma-separated list of 15–20 tags (no #, no duplicates). Node configuration Weekly Schedule Trigger: choose day/time (e.g., Mondays 09:00 local). Get all videos uploaded last week: date filter = now() - 7 days. Get video detail: map each video ID from previous node. Agent node: map fields to the prompt variables. Update video: map the agent’s tag string to the YouTube tags field. Slack message: The video "{{video_title}} - {{video_id}}" has been auto-tagged successfully. Tags: {{tags}} Test run Manually run the workflow with one recent video. Verify the tags appear in YouTube Studio and the Slack message posts. Requirements APIs & Scopes YouTube Data API v3** youtube.readonly (to list videos / details) youtube or youtube.force-ssl (to update video metadata incl. tags) Slack Bot Token Scopes** chat:write (post messages) channels:read or groups:read if selecting channels dynamically (optional) Platform Access to a chat/LLM provider (e.g., OpenAI). Outbound HTTPS allowed. Rate limits & quotas YouTube updates consume quota; tag updates are write operations—avoid re-writing unchanged tags. Add basic throttling (e.g., 1–2 updates/sec) if you process many videos. How to customize the workflow Schedule:** switch to daily, or run on publish events instead of weekly. Filtering:** process only videos matching rules (e.g., title contains “tutorial”, or missing tags). Prompt tuning:** Add brand keywords to always include (e.g., “WiseStack AI”). Constrain to language (e.g., “Vietnamese tags only”). Enforce max 500 chars total for tags if you want a stricter cap. Safety guardrails:** Validate model output: split by comma, trim whitespace, dedupe, drop empty/over-long tags. If the agent fails, fall back to a heuristic generator (title/keywords extraction). Change log:** write a row per update to a sheet/DB (videoId, oldTags, newTags, timestamp, runId). Human-in-the-loop:** send tags to Slack as buttons (“Apply / Edit / Skip”) before updating YouTube. Multi-channel support:** loop through a list of channel credentials and repeat the pipeline. Notifications:** add error Slack messages for failed API calls; summarize weekly results. Tip: Keep a small allow/deny list (e.g., banned terms, mandatory brand terms) and run a quick sanitizer right after the agent node to maintain consistency across your channel.

Auto-Translate YouTube Videos to Japanese with DeepL and Post to Slack

Overview Auto-translate YouTube uploads to Japanese and post to Slack (DeepL + Slack) Who’s it for Marketing or community teams that follow English-speaking creators but share updates with Japanese audiences; language learners who want JP summaries of newly released videos; internal comms teams curating industry channels for a JP workspace. What it does This workflow detects new YouTube uploads, retrieves full metadata, translates the title and description into Japanese using DeepL, and posts a formatted message to a Slack channel. It also skips non-English titles to avoid unnecessary translation. How it works ・RSS watches a channel for new items. ・YouTube API fetches the full snippet (title/description). ・Text is combined into a single payload and sent to DeepL. ・The translated result + original metadata is merged and posted to Slack. Requirements ・YouTube OAuth (for reliable snippet retrieval) ・DeepL API key (Free or Pro) ・Slack OAuth How to set up ・Duplicate this template. ・Open the Config (Set) node and fill in YT_CHANNEL_ID, TARGET_LANG, SLACK_CHANNEL. ・Connect credentials for YouTube, DeepL, and Slack (don’t hardcode API keys in HTTP nodes). ・Click Execute workflow and verify one sample post. How to customize ・Change TARGET_LANG to any language supported by DeepL. ・Add filters (exclude Shorts, skip videos under N characters). ・Switch to Slack Blocks for richer formatting or thread replies. ・Add a fallback translator or retry logic on HTTP errors. Notes & limits DeepL Free/Pro have different endpoints/quotas and monthly character limits. YouTube and Slack also enforce rate limits. Keep credentials in n8n’s credential store; do not commit keys into templates. Rotate keys if you accidentally exposed them.
